We are looking for an experienced and dedicated Director of Facilities and Grounds to join the FSD5 Operations Team.
This person will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance, repair, and custodial services of our facilities, ensuring that all operations are compliant with safety standards.
The Director of Facilities and Grounds’ role is to ensure that the organization’s machinery, equipment, and structures remain operational and safe.
The ideal candidate is a strategic planner with excellent project management abilities and a hands-on approach.
Responsibilities
- Plan and coordinate all maintenance, groundskeeping and repair activities.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Assist in development of annual budget.
- Establish and maintain relationships with vendors and contractors.
- Coordinate with other department heads and school leadership to ensure smooth operations.
- Conduct regular facilities inspections to identify and resolve issues.
- Assist in planning of new construction or renovation projects
- Keep a record of all maintenance and repair work using the district’s work order system.
- Lead, train, and develop maintenance/grounds and custodial staff.
- Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in technology.
- All other duties as assigned by the Chief Operations Officer
Qualifications
- Proven work experience as a Director of Facilities and Grounds or similar role.
- Knowledge of facilities machines and equipment.
- Ability to manage and lead a team.
- Ability to lift 50lbs unassisted
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Highly organized with excellent project management abilities.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
- Problem-solving ability.

Additional Information
- Job Title: Director of Facilities and Grounds
- Work Environment: This position requires both office work and on-site field work. Some travel may be required. Occasional heavy lifting required. Use of machinery and tools as required to make or facilitate repairs or upgrades to district facilities.

- Salary: Salary is based upon candidate experience and qualifications in accordance with district salary schedules.
